Rose and Locket is an excellent looking game which I’ve been following for a while, looking at its animations and concept art on Twitter @WWGAMINGNZ.
I got the chance to speak to developers behind the game and they mentioned they had a demo available which I was very excited to get the chance to play, even a little, of the game and it was even better than I expected.
The demo had a slight tutorial at the beginning but they didn’t do it in a normal style, they kind of did it in a cinematic form with different frames used. For example, with learning which key to use to move, you only saw the feet of the character running past when you press the correct button. The demo of Rose and Locket did this nearly the whole way through the tutorial which made it enjoyable and unlike most tutorials in games today. The game gives you a small boss fight which gave a glimpse into the story and compelled me to continue but I couldn’t as it was the end of the demo! Noooo!
Summary of Rose and Locket, an amazing looking game with original ideas which I haven’t seen before. It has a Guacamelee feel to it with some of its mechanics but it has a lot of original stuff there and I can’t wait to see what the full game is going to look like because the demo is very short and very enjoyable.
The demo gets a 7 out of 10 from me, I wish it was longer, but I think the game after the release will probably get a 9 out of 10.
